Winery Chateau des Landes Chateau des Lande Estate Château des Landes was created in 1952 by Paul Lassagne, Nicolas' grandfather. He started with only 2 hectares and grew to 7 hectares in 1979. His son, Daniel, came along and bought more vineyards surrounding the cellar and he managed to grow to 27 hectares in almost 20 years. In 2001, Nicolas, came aboard and decided to continue on the family tradition bringing his expertise and his knowledge. Nicolas is now in charge of the Estate and he manage hecatres of vineyards 68 hectares. In 1952 Paul Lassagne, who was working in a local tile factory purchased a 2-ha plot including a cellar. In less than 30 years, the vineyard went from 2 to 7 ha. In 1979, Paul`s son, Daniel came to work alongside his father after obtaining a degree in viticulture and oenology. Over the next decade, he increased the size of the vineyard to 17 the mid-1990s, the vines and cellar had been entirely renovated and the family holding reached 30 ha, including a 24-ha single block in Lussac Saint Emilion. Le vignoble dont est issu ce Château des Landes est d’une superficie de 6,75ha dont le terroir est composé de vignes de 55ans en moyenne et de sols argilo-calcaire, d’argiles blanches avec de la crasse de fer oxyde de fer. Puis le vin est élevé pendant de 12 à 18 mois en barriques provenant des forêts de chênes du Limousin, de l’Allier et du centre de la France Notes de dégustation Puissant, ce Merlot qui se découvre sur une belle concentration d’arômes de chocolat noir, de prunes, de mûres et de notes boisées bien intégrées. La bouche, puissante et charnue, est supportée par des tannins charpentés, bien corsés et soyeux, une acidité fraîche en harmonie avec une texture veloutée. Elle démontre une belle densité des flaveurs de fruits noirs et de notes boisées qui culminent en une belle amplitude bien généreuse et un côté fort juteux.
